Last weekend, Diana, who is one of my BFF’s, celebrated her Bachelorette party in Vegas.   One of the greatest ideas she has ever given me was to document this trip.   Document girl time!  HELLO!  It was perfect!  AND after documenting Diana’s last girl trip as a single lady, I say: EVERY BRIDE-TO-BE should hire a photog and document the fun time (I’m ready, just call me HA)!  In the suite alone you have the best time getting ready together, deciding what to wear and of course, the mini photo shoots!   Let’s just say the girls will forever remember, “are you ready for your SOLO?” ;)

I met Diana years ago, when we were in 7th grade.   Little did we know we would become family.   We share nephews  :) My sister and her brother got married shortly after we became friends.   I couldn’t be happier that Diana found her partner in life, so happy she is “The Future Mrs. Salsa!”

OK, on with documenting the big bachelorette bash!   It officially started Friday morning.  Most of us who flew to Vegas had interesting stories about the people we came across on the plane.   I literally had a lady in front of me in the security line smelling her shoes.  Seriously!  Jenny had ladies arguing on her flight and she was sitting in the middle seat between them.  Ay Dios!  Adrienne had a man sitting next to her with a foot fetish.  Yup!  He wanted to buy her shoes.   You just never know who is flying to Vegas!   Basically, we had plenty to laugh and chat about.  For example, the fact that I wrapped Diana’s gift before I left.  Yes, her gift got smashed in my luggage.  We laughed so hard that I just had to take a pictures of it, so I remember how much of a dork I am sometimes.

Once all the girls arrived, we started the drinks in the room, turned up the music and got ready for night number 1 in Vegas!

Um.  How beautiful is Diana?!?!  Eric you are a lucky man!

Day two, we did the pool thing at Nikki Beach (so fun!) and later SURPRISED Diana with a fun shower in our suite!   We did gifts, champagne, cupcakes and solos!  AND beautiful baby Aubri made an appearance before her bedtime :)

Thank you to the Aria Hotel!  What a great place to stay!  Last but not least an even bigger THANK YOU to Joyce,  Diana’s Maid of Honor, for planning such a memorable trip and time for the bride-to-be!

I am a COOKIE GIRL.  OK!  Confession: I am a SUGAR girl.  Unfortunately!  I am also such a Bethenny Frankel fan and have been dying to try her Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe.  Finally I did and seriously these cookies… delicious!  Since I am a visual learner, I thought I would take pictures of every step :) They are healthier than the normal cookie, if that is at all possible, but seriously they are yummy! Try them!!!  Here is the recipe:

  • 1 1/2 cups oat flour
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup raw sugar
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon canola oil
  • 1/3 cup soy milk
  • 1/2 cup banana puree (1 medium-size banana)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Yes, Ivan helped!  I had to photograph :)

Another confession, I didn’t try them the night I baked them…i let them sit and had them the next morning with my coffee and new favorite book:

Fine Art Wedding Photography By Jose Villa & Jeff Kent

Seriously this is my heaven!  Coffee made by Ivan, cookies from Bethenny’s recipes and a book by Jose Villa!

Gaby mentioned to me that she had never taken family pictures with her kids.  Of course my response was, “WHAT! It’s so important.” I would say that right!  Finally, after talking about it for weeks, we set the date and did the shoot :)   She is an awesome mother!  Her kids are a reflection of how well she is raising them.  Anthony is quiet and respectful, yet so funny.  I asked him how many girlfriends he had and he said, “Tooooo many!”  HA!  Izzy is just too darn cute!  She kept saying she was hungry the entire shoot, yet she still stole the show.  No child is this happy when they are hungry.  She is witty and loves the camera.  I had the best time seeing them interact as a family.  Gaby you are doing a great job :)

Me

My Roxy!

We are walking Roxy as usual, coming towards us is a lady walking her dog as well.  I see them and pull Roxy a little closer.  She comes to us and says, “I think our dogs want to meet.”  Her calm little dog walks towards our sweet little Roxy (sarcasm), who all of a sudden goes crazy barking and that sweetness she pretends to have totally disappears.  I am mortified.  We apologize and pull at Roxy telling her NO!  What does Roxy do?!?!?!  You guessed it, she doesn’t stop!  She keeps barking.  SHE DOESN’T LISTEN!  She needs training…I get it.  I thought we could get her to listen and train her on our own, but we failed.  To make it WORSE as this LADY walks away from us, because Roxy was barking and growling at her dog, she says….WAIT FOR IT…..”I see who wears the pants in your home.”   WHAT!  OMG!  RUDE right!  WAIT!  IT GETS BETTER.  After that incident we are upset with ROXY, I pick her up not letting her enjoy her walk.  Eventually I put her back down.  I have my camera and the light looks good, so I put her down to take her.  Little did I know she was upset with us too.  She refuses to take a picture…

MY ROXY doesn’t listen, but she is smart.  I JUST LOVE HER!

PS. Can’t wait to see how dog training goes, wonder if I can bring my camera!

Tomorrow they get married! Tomorrow they take their love and commit for each other one step further.  So exciting!  They are absolutely in love and it shows. The way Erik looks at her, the way he smiles at her and more importantly the way he takes care of her is OH SO SWEET!   As we walked around UCLA to shoot pictures at Darlene’s old campus, he always made sure she was OK.  They are just an adorable couple and on the same page of life.  Being around them was so much fun.   Thank you Darlene and Erik for allowing me to take this special moment in your life and make it still.  May you two always be on the same page.  Happy Wedding!

How beautiful is Darlene?
